Biscuits and Gravy Casserole

Life will become heaven.” I love that answer. *winks* Biscuits and Gravy Casserole will leave a great mark in your hearts and tummies. “Gravy alone has given me the total foodgasm.” Well, food will always provide that, my friend. *winks* Anyway, gravy is one of the most wonderful things that has been created here on earth, but what is gravy? How do you make it? Are there any types of gravy? What type of gravy is used in this recipe? “Yeah, those are a lot of questions.” No worries, I got all the answers.*winks*

Gravy is a “sauce, often made from the juices that run naturally during cooking and often thickened with wheat flour or cornstarch for added texture.” It is usually served with roasts, meatloaf, rice, and mashed potatoes. There are many ways in making gravy. You can have the quick step, making without pan drippings, and with pan drippings. Among the three, I always use the quickest way. *big smile* For the quick gravy, you will only need flour, butter, and broth. “Me too, I’m good with the quick one.” High five, bruh! Anyway, there are many types of gravy.

We have the chocolate, egg, giblet, mushroom, onion, red-eye, vegetable, cream, and brown gravy. In this casserole recipe, the type of gravy used is the cream gravy. Cream gravy, as cited by Wikipedia, is the gravy “typically used in biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak. It is essentially a Béchamel sauce, with the roux being made of meat drippings and flour.” In making cream gravy, milk is added and thickened by the roux. Once prepared, black pepper and bits of mild sausage or chicken liver are sometimes added. Cream gravy is also called white and sawmill gravy. Other common names include country gravy, white gravy, milk gravy, and sausage gravy.
